Reading-based Terranova Group has taken delivery of a King five-axled ballast trailer to coincide with the delivery of a brand new Grove GMK5220 mobile crane. The newcomer was needed to carry the 77 tonnes of counterweight required for the crane.
Terranova Group purchased a six-axled trailer to carry the 96 tonnes of counterweight needed for its brand new Terex Demag AC250 mobile crane. With this trailer combination the weight was being spread over nine axles and so axle weights were well within scope.UK law dictates that a maximum100 tonne counterweight (including tractor and trailer weight) can be carried.
Although the six-axled ballast trailer is capable of 108 tonnes, payload it is still limited under legislation so when looking at the second trailer, a five-axled model was chosen.
